Thanks for joining us in recognizing some behind-the-scenes work.

On Thursday, October 6, the CRTC issued an important decision called Telecom Order CRTC 2016-396. The decision recognized that without fair rates for wholesale network access, consumers don’t get meaningful telecom choice – and competitors don’t have a chance to innovate. TekSavvy reached out to Canadian consumers through social media and a newspaper ad, and asked them to say #ThanksCRTC. Over 1400 Canadians did, hailing from across Canada.

On January 16, 2017, TekSavvy dropped its residential Internet rates, a move to build the CRTC’s interim pricing into lower rates for our services. We’re assuming the CRTC will carry these fairer rates through to its final decision, instead of overwriting these interim rates – retroactively – with the kind of higher pricing that many incumbents have asked for. We believe that that’s the right assumption.

We asked TekSavvy customers to say #ThanksAgainCRTC, and join the effort to ensure a competitive telecom industry. Over 1,600 Canadians added their voice to the call for robust telecom competition.

We will be forwarding MPs across Canada a list of petition signatories whose postal code corresponds to their riding along with a cover letter similar to the last one we sent, to show them that you continue to support a strong, independent, and consumer-focused CRTC.

You voice counts: we believe that, by speaking up, all Canadians can make a difference.

* We won’t share the petition list, won’t cross-link it with our customer list, won’t use and retain it for internal marketing, and will destroy it once the petitions are sent out. It does run through the servers of HubSpot Inc., a U.S.-based company whose software we used to power this page, but they’ve made strong contractual privacy commitments they’re required to honour.
